Therese Rawsthorne has established herself as a leading Australian designer, with her affectionate, feminine clothing collections. Described as sophisticated yet understated, Therese Rawsthorne clothing collections often combine elements of glamour with a subtle edge. Always wearable, and forever growing in popularity, the Therese Rawsthorne label continues to consistently impress fellow designers and fashionistas alike.
Therese started her fashion career with studies at UTS, before a three year stint in London working with the likes of Issey Miyake and Oswald Boateng. Therese then returned to Australia in 2003 with the intention of starting her own label. A couple of years of some part-time work and a small business course then followed, before the birth of her first solo label – Youth World, in 2005. A naming conflict in 2006 led to a label name change to Therese Rawsthorne.
Although inspired by conceptual and avant-garde fashion, Therese creates her collections with the intention of being everyday wardrobe items.
When it comes down to it I don’t want my clothes to be sitting somewhere in a cupboard or on a rail and not getting worn. It’s a lot more satisfying for me if it means something in the daily life of a woman.’ - Therese Rawsthorne
