Q1) Who are the name/s behind the label? What is/are your backgrounds?

DANIEL AVAKIAN (MA fashion and Textiles) – Namesake fashion label. I am Australian born with an Armenian descent.

Q2) When and where did the label begin?

The label began on paper in September 2007, and the debut aesthetic/styling of the label's designs took shape in form of a ready-to-wear collection in October 2007.

Q3) What direction is the Daniel Avakian fashion label taking?

In 2009, the DANIEL AVAKIAN label switched focus from ready-to-wear clothing collections to specialise in the design/development and manufacture of both men’s and women’s tailored garments.

The products include: Male/Female Bespoke suiting and Women’s special event dresses. At the moment, my bespoke services are spread by word-of-mouth and/or by referral.

Q4) What do you hope to accomplish with your fashion label? What is the dream?

The dream is to continually evolve, develop our “tailored signature with an edge” to a wider audience as it is currently available via the bespoke service offered.

Furthermore, to continue and design a strong aesthetic which will be easily identifiable as a DANIEL AVAKIAN piece to customers in years to come. Designs with an attention to detail/quality and trend relevance are also included in “the dream”.

Q5) If you could pick someone famous that best represents your label's style, who would it be? Alternatively, what famous person/s would you want wearing your label?

I am very grateful of the “famous people” that have already worn the label I offer, and I hope to continue to see them and others in it in the future. However it is currently equally as important to me that the “everyday people” whom place orders with the label are as happy with the products developed for them. I feel their satisfaction not only puts a smile on my face but often results in recommendations to others.

Q6) Who are your favourite fashion designers and what about them inspires you? What else inspires you?

My personal inspiration comes from my life experiences, education, music and film, which are translated into design from the skills I have learnt whilst studying and working within the fashion industry. The designers I have always favoured are superiorly created garments that were ”new and relevant”, which their following always appreciated.

Q7) Complete the following sentence: Our fashion label is unique because…

We offer a bespoke suiting and design service that not only tailors product/s to a clients needs, it also allows the product and the design the opportunity for being considered a “limited edition” which adds a tremendous value to the end result as well as a personal touch.
