Dion Lee drops by Chapel Streets GWE to launch his new collection
Last week renowned Australian designer Dion Lee visited Green With Envy on Chapel Street to launch his new collection ‘New Ruins’. The collection features strong cosmic digital prints, asymmetric cuts and a focus on forest greens punctuated with soft pastel pink.

DKNY Fall 2012 – NYFW
DKNY’s Fall collection showcased at New York Fashion week was a rich mixture of fur, leather and wool. This season dresses has dropped waistlines and flirty skirts combined with wide statement leather belts and fur collars. The collection was luxurious to say the least but remained true to form with a great emphasis on wearability. From warm reds to royal blues and fuchsias, DKNY was a stand out on the runway in New York.

Back Stage at Prabal Gurung – NYFW
Back stage at Prabal Gurung, it was all about the bold prints and statement pieces.
Zoe Salelana opted for bold printed silk pants and an aqua green tuxedo jacket. The vibrant colour palette brightened up an otherwise dreary New York day.

Lily Rabe donned a bold purple and white printed jumpsuit and a knee length black and white jacket.

Jenna Lyons followed in suit with a pair of black, red and blue block coloured silk pants. With blue striped knees and a crimson colours waistband, Jenna makes a statement backstage.

Elletra Wiedemann stood out in a pair of purple glittered pants, white shirt and white blazer. This high contrasting look is right on trend.
Michelle Harper turned heads in her matching printed ensemble. Her dropped waistline green, purple and white printed dress was paired with a matching frilled knee-length jacket.
This fashion season, it is all about bold printed fabrics, vibrant hues and high contrasting looks.

Soft Sorbets
This spring expect to see a vast array of pastel colours making their way onto the catwalks around the globe. From sorbet oranges and yellows to soft shades of pink and mint green, this spring is looking to be a burst of soft hues.
The 3.1 Phillip Lim’s pastel coloured collection combines soft slouchy silk pants and skirts with asymmetric silk tanks and vests. The striking collection of vivid pastels makes a bold statement on the catwalk.

Superbowl 2012
When thinking of the Super Bowl fashion is not usually the first thing that comes to mind. This year however, a half time performance by Madonna had the fashion world enthralled.
When it comes to Madonna you are sure to be wowed, and while her performance may have been lip-synced, her outfits had twitter abuzz with excitement. Donning a Gladiator inspired Givenchy couture frock with heavy gold studded embellishment, Bvlgari jewels and an awe inspiring Philip Treacy headpiece.
The material girl’s show evoked such hype that Editor of Vogue USA Anna Wintour expects that the performance of her famous song ‘Vogue’ will draw more football fans to the magazine. If only Couture had a place at all football games.

Ellery et Graz Fall Collection Launches
Renowned and well-loved Australian designer, Kim Ellery, has once again teamed up with Graz Mulcahy to design a new eyewear range for Fall 2012. The collaboration, titled Ellery et Graz is a combination of the quintessential cat eye frames and a mixture of soft pastel coloured lenses. As a result, the collection has a feminine yet bold appeal.

We Love You LOVER: Lover to open a flagship store
In 2011, Susian Chong and Nic Briand celebrated the ten-year anniversary of Lover’s inception. 2012 brings with it the latest news that the style duo will open a flagship store for their label. In March, ‘The Strand Arcade’ in Sydney will become the new home of Lover, and we couldn’t be more excited. The concept store will allow customers to physically experience the new AW12 collection, titled ‘Lydia’, and a selection of very exclusive pieces.

Marni for H&M
Following the success of Versace, Consuelo Castiglioni, founder of the Italian label Marni, will create an exclusive capsule collection fitting for the high street store H&M. On the 8th of March, the collection will be available online as well as in 260 stores worldwide. The more affordable collection, dominated by colourful prints and printed t-shirts features dresses, pants and knits, jewellery, accessories and shoes for women, and new combinations of signature prints for men.
Sophia Coppola produced a whimsical short film featuring the collection and staring British actress Imogen Poots.

2012 AACTA Awards Red Carpet

This years AACTA Awards, formerly known as the AFI Awards, saw an emphasis on strong sleek designs, with many stars opting for a floor-length gown.

Star of the Australian film, Red Dog, Rachel Taylor wears Australian designer Dion Lee in this sexy and refined black and cut out mesh dress. Showing just the right amount of skin, Rachel looks stunning in this slim fitting floor-length number.

Indiana Evans, star of Crownies, is glowing in this Camilla and Marc off the shoulder dress. The slim lines of her dress come in at the waist creating a strong feminine silhouette. Gold accessories and natural make-up ensure that Indiana maintains a youthful yet sophisticated look.

Miranda Kerr, model and presented at the AACTA awards opted for a classic Collette Dinnigan one shoulder dress. The floor-length dress gathered at the waist and flowed seamlessly to the floor. With a pink lip and loosely curled hair, Miranda was a picture of timeless perfection.

Spring Couture 2012 Collection Favourites

The pure genius of Karl Lagerfeld was again put on display with a fresh and edgy collection that was literally a little but hair raising. With a colour palette that featured everything from light blues to black the collection was an ultra-modern take on the classic Chanel look.
Sequined embellishment featured heavily along with the boat neckline and of course no Chanel collection would be complete without the famous Chanel tweed.

Models looked elegant and feminine gracing the runway for Christian Dior Couture spring 2012. Black and white combined perfectly with full skirts to create a chic collection of ladylike creations.

Featuring pencil skirts, corsetry, lace and an injection of bright colour the Jean Paul GaultierSpring Couture show was a delight to watch. Models with heavy eyeliner and Amy Winehouse inspired beehive hairstyle showed of a bright hued collection that had a vampy 50s style sex appeal.

Glistening pastels of mint green, soft pink and baby blue floated down the runway for Elie Saab Spring Couture 2012. Saab showed both full skirted party frocks and long lustrous evening gowns.
Using liberal embellishment and varied necklines Saab created a collection of dreamy and classically beautiful gowns sure to be seen on red carpets around the world.

Hottest looks on the SAG Awards Red Carpet
Every Hollywood awards event provides any opportunity for Hollywood’s shining stars to waltz along the red carpet in glitz and glamour. This year’s SAG awards were no disappointment with many awe inspiring outfits stepping out of limousines and onto the famed red carpet. Here is a look at our favourites.

Wearing the brightest gown of the evening Emily Blunt looked stunning in a vivid green Oscar de la Renta creation.
With beautiful fabric draping and a thigh high split the dress was an elegant yet playful choice. The gown is perfectly complemented by a classic up do hairstyle and very sharp looking hubby, John Krasinski by her side.

You can always count on Sofia Vergara to bring the va-va-voom to the red carpet.
This crimson hued Marchesa gown accentuated Vergara’s killer curves and created a look that was effortlessly glamorous and lustrous. Lorrain Schwartz jewellery added some sparkle to complete the look.

Quickly becoming fashion’s favourite icon, Emma Stone looks stunning in an Alexander McQueen gown.
The full skirt is feminine and classy and black is chic choice for the starlet that usually favours colours. Stone accessorized with Tiffany and Co jewels, cementing her place as the one to watch this awards season.

Sometimes the greatest risks have the greatest rewards.
This was the case for Rose Byrne’s choice of a glistening embellished Elie Saab jumpsuit. The jumpsuit is perfectly suited to Byrne who’s cropped bob hairstyle complement the look seamlessly.

‘Nomad’ concept store Launch - Albert Park Melbourne

A beautiful warm night and the colourful displays of Albert Park’s ‘Nomad’ concept store created the perfect scene for the new collection launch of Kaftans by Colin Heaney. With a glass of Sangria in hand excited guests gathered around the unique Kaftans boldly coloured with an enchanting mix of turquoise, fuchsia, chartreuse and purple.
Using the highest quality silks from a province in China famous for being the birthplace of silk the kaftans feel as luxurious as they look. With a background in glass blowing Colin Heaney finds the inspiration for his eye-catching prints from things he has made.
Sometimes the inspiration comes from an interesting piece of glass or one of his mosaic creations. The collection fits perfectly with the rest of the store that delights the eye of the beholder. Nomad truly lives up to its name with an eclectic mix of clothing, jewellery, home wares, furniture and art gathered from all around the world.
Necklaces hang from long hooks, the walls are covered with interesting prints and there is something to delight and enchant every which way you look. Owners Yenny and her partner Ricardo clearly have an eye for the fascinating and inspiring bringing it together at ‘Nomad’ to share with an audience.

Australian model Erin McNaught teams up with MAMBO for the 2012 Goddess Summer swimwear campaign
The MAMBO Goddess Summer 2012 campaign featured Australian model Erin McNaught looking fabulous in MAMBO’s funky swimwear collection. Shot on the picturesque cliffs in Bali by renowned photographer Nick Leary, the 2012 campaign signalled MAMBO’s move into the international market. Dramatic lighting and exotic locations presented a more sophisticated look than the usually casual MAMBO style. Synonymous with Australian beach culture, MAMBO will no doubt strengthen its presence in the international market.

Best Looks at The Golden Globes

The Golden Globes always bring out Hollywood’s finest glamour and this year’s red carpet did not disappoint. There were lots of nudes, fishtails and even a few headbands but here is a wrap up of the best looks to come out of this year’s Globes.

Zooey Deschanel in Custom Prada.
With a beautiful green beaded bodice and beaded back this dress perfectly suited the star of ‘New Girl’. A retro 60s inspired hairdo and a Tuxedo manicure made for a very polished look.

Julianne Moore in Chanel.
This look is the epitome of elegance. The quite simple but very well fitted frock is the perfect combination with her porcelain skin and fiery locks. The bold green Fred Leighton earrings are the perfect finishing touch to bring the look up to date and add a little bit of playfulness.

Kate Winslet in Jenny Packham.
The classic black and white combination gives this look an air of sophistication. The gown is a lovely shape for Winslet and the keyhole neckline helps the gown avoid being too conservative.
Fred Leighton earrings and Roger Vivier shoes were paired to complete what was an absolutely stunning red carpet look.

Rooney Mara in Nina Bucci.
This gown is proof that there will never be a new black. The look is elegant and timeless and Mara’s sleek hairdo gives the look personal flair and individuality. The beautiful detailing of the dress and its lovely shape make for a memorable red carpet moment.

Emma Stone is Lanvin.
This very floaty and feminine frock is paired beautifully with an eagle belt to create a unique and fashion forward red carpet look. The plum hues of the gown are perfect for Stone’s alabaster complexion. Smokey eyes gave the look a bold and chic edge.
